ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025 – Expressions of Interest Now Open

Date

We are excited to announce that Expressions of Interest are now open for this year's ESRC Festival of Social Science!

What is the ESRC Festival of Social Science?
The ESRC Festival of Social Science is an annual UK-wide event that highlights the impact of social science research on society. It provides a platform for social scientists to engage with the public, raise awareness about the value of social science, and demonstrate its relevance to everyday life. The festival includes a wide range of events designed to inspire and engage non-academic audiences, especially young people.

Theme for 2025: ‘Our Working Lives’
This year’s festival theme will explore ‘Our Working Lives.’ However, event proposals are welcome on any social science or economics topics that will engage the target audiences.

When is it?
The ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025 will run from 18th October to 8th November.

Who can Apply?
We welcome applications from researchers across all disciplines. You do not need to be a social scientist to participate, as long as your research has a social science component or a collaborating partner. We also encourage applications from external partners (such as third-sector organizations) if they collaborate with a researcher from the University of Leeds. You can apply for up to £1,000 to fund your event!

How to Apply
Before submitting a proposal, please review the Event Leader Guide and the Event Leader Job Description to ensure you understand the festival's requirements.
