Artivist Crossings is a unique partnership that leverages the expertise from scholars across geography, sociology, and performance studies in Leeds and IIGG. Recent reports of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) stresses the increasingly urgent nature of the climate. This has called the project team to examine the potential of methods of art and activism – also known as ‘artivism’ – to provide a critical response to this pressing issues.

Artivist Crossings has enabled networking activities and knowledge exchange workshops in Buenos Aires, engaging with prominent scholars, activists, artists, and arts organisations. The workshops have involved presentations and mind-mapping exercises, with a focus on heightening the voices of Global South communities. The collaborative learnings gained from these activities, along with broader observations from the project team, will inform the development of a grant proposal.
