Did you know that we have a Leeds Social Sciences Institute YouTube channel? Have you read our researcher case studies? If not, you're missing out on valuable insights from social science researchers across the University of Leeds!
We've been building a repository of social science shorts, case studies, videos, and podcasts. These cover a range of topics, including working with policymakers, interdisciplinary research, co-production, and collaborations with Leeds City Council. In our case studies, we hear from researchers who received ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) funding.
Our social science shorts and case studies showcase how IAA funding has supported researchers to maximise impact, which can lead to further, larger awards.
Natalie Jackson, LSSI Communications and Graduate Co-ordinator
IAA funding is available to support capacity-building activities through the following streams:
- Knowledge Exchange Fellowships (up to £10k per fellowship): Aimed at enhancing co-produced, long-term, sustainable knowledge exchange interactions between external organisations and the University through staff mobility.
- Responsive Project Funding (awards up to £15k): Provides flexible funding for projects that demonstrate strong user engagement and potential for local, regional, national, or international societal impact.
- Rapid Action Funding (awards up to £2k): Allows social scientists to act quickly to influence governmental, national, and international debate, or respond to urgent and pressing opportunities in short timescales. Rapid action calls are ongoing and will be assessed on a rolling basis by the LSSI/IAA Manager, IAA award panel members, and the LSSI Director.
- Co-production Next Generation Impact Scheme (up to £5k) provides the opportunity for Early/Mid-Career Researchers to develop research impact in relation to co-production research tackling societal challenges.
- Early Stage Enterprise and Commercialisation (up to £3k) for researchers considering commercialising their social science research. To support proof of concept/market research to validate the concept and establish the best enterprise pathway and business model.
