In order to help build a richer connection between the academic and policy worlds, the Leeds Social Sciences Institute (LSSI) at the University of Leeds and the Department for work and pensions (DWP) have developed a monthly seminar series: Linking Leeds.

The monthly seminars will provide an opportunity to hear from both leading Social Scientists at the University of Leeds as well as prominent analysts, strategists and policy makers from the Department for Work and Pensions.

At December's event, we will hear from Jeroen Bastiaanssen on 'Youth mobility and access to economic opportunities', and Dr Jana Javornik on 'Parenthood and aring: how men and women balance work and caring responsibilities - employers' data'.

This session presents results from two recent studies of (1) innovative organisational and workplace approaches to addressing gender imbalances in the workplace and (2) the Equal Lives report, a study of 10,000 female and male employees’ perceptions and attitudes in relation to work and care. University of Leeds is joined by Business in the Community (BITC), the Prince’s Responsible Business Network in the presentation of employers’ and employees’ perspectives.

The seminar will be followed by a 30 minute question and answer session. Lunch will be provided.

If you have any dietary or access requirements, or any further questions about the Linking Leeds seminar series, please contact LSSI Coordinator, Hannah Crow (H.E.Crow@leeds.ac.uk).
