The Place-based Economic Recovery Network: Co-producing an integrated theory and evidence base for West Yorkshire Combined Authority economic recovery planning

Responsive Mode Impact Fund

The project will co-produce with West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) a policy synthesis report that can inform West Yorkshire regional economic recovery planning.

As part of a wider development of a ‘place-based economic recovery network,’ a series of interdisciplinary webinars, co-designed and co-hosted by the University of Leeds and WYCA, took place on July 7th, 8th, 15th, 16th, with potential for more from September. These webinars bring together leading academic and non-academic experts to discuss WYCA’s economic recovery planning.

The project will draw together the existing research, disseminated and discussed in the webinar series, into a single policy synthesis document, connecting systems and scales. This document will be developed in close contact with WYCA and LEP, and with diverse webinar participants and presenters, to inform the development of WYCA’s regional economic recovery strategy.

The engagement via the webinars and the development of the policy document will facilitate establishment of longer-term joint working between academic participants and WYCA and related bodies in the development and implementation of the WYCA and LEP economic recovery strategy.
